About Me
My name is Jennifer Meara, founder of Animal Instincts Pet Sitting And Dog Walking. I was born in Springfield and currently live in East Longmeadow, and have been “adopted” by countless homeless animals seeking a loving home. Prior to establishing Animal Instincts Pet Sitting And Dog Walking, I worked with a skilled nursing facility incorporating pets into the lives of the residents living there.
The idea to open Animal Instincts came to me as I contemplated my own dilemma of finding an alternative to kenneling my pets while on vacation. I knew that I could convince a friend or relative to stop by to check on them, but realized they had busy lives and I didn’t want to impose. The idea of paying a neighborhood kid to do the job did not appeal as I worried about reliability. I sensed that my cats would be much happier and more comfortable if allowed to remain in their own home and was confident that other pet owners felt the same way. Hence…Animal Instincts Pet Sitting And Dog Walking was born in June 1998.
I have cared for a variety of pets, from dogs to a Capuchin monkey, and just about everything in between. I am familiar and experienced with pets with special needs, including medications and injections. I enjoy volunteering at Dakin Humane Society in Springfield, fostering cats and kittens in my home. I reside in East Longmeadow with my husband, Scot, our two dogs, Fiona and Bunny, and our three cats, Bailey, Murphy and Stella.
My Goal
To treat your pets with the love, care and respect I would use to treat my own. I believe in nurturing my client’s pets, in their own home environment and helping them follow a consistant and reliable schedule. At Animal Instincts Pet Sitting & Dog Walking, you and your pets happiness is my main concern. I know how important your pet is to you; your pet is part of your family. And as a client your pet will be part of my family too.
